Over a cup of coffee

"Here is your coffee" Luqman menghulurkan mug putih bercorak merah hati. Aroma kopi memenuhi ruang antara mereka.

Suria menyambut perlahan. "How is Kak Gee and her husband?"

"Well (Luqman take a few second pause).. i only know one Kak Gee. I dunno about marriage tapi I ada dengar she is dating someone" Luqman duduk di sebelah isterinya. Dia menghirup perlahan kopi panas.

"Dating someone? isn't she.. married (this word only come out in her mind) nama dia Daniel?"

Kak Gee and Daniel belum kahwin lagi... Their wedding was (or is, i can't really tell) on March 2009. Kalau betul apa Luqman cakap, their wedding will be in 5months time...

"Entah la. Baru sangat lagi. Dia pun tak cerita banyak" Luqman menjawab tanpa memandang Suria. Mata nya paku pada skrin television.

Wait a minute, which means… Shit! My promotion happened on January 2009. I’m still stuck in my small cubicle for the next 2months. Itupun kalau my performance is as good as I performed last year (she means 2008). What a hard work, imagine have to do it all over again.

And losing Luqman... Suria memandang sayu suaminya. Mug diletakkan perlahan ke atas coffee table. Dia mengalihkan lengan Luqman supaya memeluk bahunya. Luqman menggosok lengan Suria. Suria merehatkan kepalanya ke dada Luqman lalu mencium ubun2 Suria sambil mengelus lembut rambut Suria.

Suria memejamkan mata.

Was it just a bad bad dream?
Or God is giving her a second chance?
